U.S., 1977, 89 min, 35mm, Dir. David Lynch, Rated R for disturbing images, Janus Films
"What makes Eraserhead great -- and still, perhaps the best of all Lynch's films? Intensity. Nightmare clarity. And perhaps also it's the single-mindedness of its vision." - Chicago Tribune
The Gables Cinema and the Secret Celluloid Society presents David Lynch's dark and nightmarish cult classic Eraserhead, the third film in our special Halloween Up All Nite celebration during our late-night After Hours series! Set against a bleak, post-apocalyptic landscape, Eraserhead explores the life of Henry Spencer (Jack Nance), a despondent industrial worker who learns he is the father of a frightening, mutant-like infant. Described by celebrated film critic Roger Ebert as “something that literally looked, sounded and felt like nothing that had ever come before it,” this nightmarish, disturbing cult classic was selected to be preserved in the National Film Registry by the United States Library of Congress in 2004.
After Hours is the best films you never saw on the big screen (or maybe you did) from late-night cult classics to foreign favorites and even summer blockbusters every Saturday night often on 35mm. Tickets include a free popcorn and happy hour. Please note that unclaimed pre-ordered tickets will be sold to the rush line 30 mins after showtime.
