The Secret Celluloid Society presents John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask’s musical-comedy drama Hedwig and the Angry Inch on 35mm as part of our late-night After Hours series! Hedwig (John Cameron Mitchell), a genderqueer punk-rocker from East Berlin (before the fall of the wall), falls in love with Luther (Maurice Dean Wint), an American soldier. Once the couple marry in the US, Hedwig life changes as she continues her career and an unexpected love life. Mitchell gracefully explores Hedwig’s personal life surrounded by gender identity, relationships, philosophy, and her hometown. Rene Rodriguez of the Miami Herald notes, “Hedwig makes for an unforgettable heroine, the perfect center to this wonderfully odd, vivid and dynamic movie.”
