Based on Jose Louis Sampedro's bestselling book and produced by six-time Oscar winner Arthur Cohn, The Etruscan Smile transposes the story to Scotland and the United States where Rory McNeil (the great Brian Cox) leaves his beloved isolated Hebridean island and travels to San Francisco to seek medial treatment. Moving in with his estranged son, the rugged old Scotsman's life is transformed just when he expects it least, through a newly found love for his baby grandson.
