The Best of Latin American Short Films

The Gables Cinema brings the New York International Children’s Film Festival back to Miami with the wonderful compilation of nine short films in ¡Viva NYICFF! The Best of Latin American Short Films on Saturday & Sunday, November 14 and 15 at 11:00 am as part of our Family Day on Aragon series! This special series has been curated for Miami audiences, allowing viewers to enjoy films from around the world in Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan with English subtitles. At The Opera (En La Opera, Argentina), a particularly moving night at the opera, guarantees to move you to tears; Journey To Mars (Viaje A Marte, Argentina) Antonio takes a trip to Mars (in his tow truck, no less) but nobody believes him; Grandma Grasshopper (Abuella Grillo, Bolivia/Denmark) A little city girl learns that it is our roots that give us strength; My Queen (Minha Rainha, Brazil) A young girl looks forward to her big debut evening, flag-dancing in the carnival; Fifteen (Quince Años, Mexico) It’s Vianney’s quinceañera and she is getting ready for her party, but she is not alright, and more! All shorts are appropriate for ages 9 and up.

Culturally rich, inexpensive family fun featuring beloved classics and new favorites for all to enjoy. Hosted on the second Saturday & Sunday of every month. Tickets are free for children 12 & under and pay what you can for everyone else. All tickets include a free small popcorn and soda. Suggested price per pay what you can ticket is $5 per person. In partnership with Books & Books and Coral Gables Museum.
