U.S., 1982, 128 min, 2K DCP, Dir. John Huston, Rated PG, Sony Pictures Releasing
"What makes Annie so winning is that, while it could have easily been just another cutesy-poo Hollywood musical, it happens to be as gritty, genial and boisterous as little Annie herself." – Kathleen Carroll, New York Daily News
The fiery young Annie lives a hard-knock life in an orphanage run by the cruel and alcoholic Agatha Hannigan. Her seemingly hopeless situation is dramatically changed when she is selected to stay with billionaire Oliver Warbucks in an effort to improve his public image. But the young girl charms the household staff and even the cold-hearted Warbucks finds himself falling for Annie in director John Huston’s Oscar-nominated musical. Released 35 years ago, Annie has warmed the hearts of audiences everywhere with its colorful cast of characters and memorable songs, including classics such as “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard Knock Life.” This film is suitable for ages 6 and up.
Non-alcoholic Shirley Temples will be available at the cinema cafe during the film.
