"A masterpiece of lunacy and oddball creativity." – Bill Clark, From the Balcony
The third part in Sam Raimi’s gory Evil Dead horror series, Army of Darkness adds a heavy dose of sword-and-sorcery and slapstick humor to the low-budget universe. After he’s transported to the battlefields of the Middle Ages, Ash Williams (Bruce “The Chin” Campbell) must fight the demonic Deadites with his trusty shotgun, chainsaw arm, and beat-up Oldsmobile 88. All the while, he searches for the mystical Necronomicon that will return him to his own time – if he can just remember the magic words. Janet Maslin of The New York Times praised Campbell, saying his “manly, mock-heroic posturing is perfectly in keeping with the director’s droll outlook.”
