During one production week of I Love Lucy — from Monday table read through Friday audience taping — Lucille Ball (Nicole Kidman) and Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem) face a series of crises that threaten their show, their careers, and their marriage. In this compelling drama based on true events, writer and director Aaron Sorkin (A Few Good Men, The West Wing, The Social Network) explores the behind-the-scenes personal and professional tumult of this celebrity couple during the 1950s when artists were subjected to intense government scrutiny for their beliefs and perceived political affiliations.

Described as “Hollywood's most celebrated and scrutinized screenwriter” by The Hollywood Reporter, Sorkin turns his trademark directorial eye on a fraught period in America’s history with the faltering union of Ball and Arnaz as centerpiece. The film captures how beautifully complicated Lucy’s and Desi’s love was, while at the same time, showcasing how they revolutionized television through business savvy and laughter.
