Big Trouble in Little China

"Big Trouble is the best kind of action movie, because it ignores real-world logic in favor of having some major fun." – Josh Modelll, The A.V. Club
All-American truck driver Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) and his friend Wang Chi (Dennis Dun) set out to rescue Wang’s green-eyed fiancée, Miao Yin, who has been kidnapped by a Chinese street gang working for powerful sorcerer David Lo Pan. Cursed for over 2000 years, the evil man must live without a physical form until he marries a green-eyed Chinese woman – and Miao fits the bill. John Carpenter’s classic action comedy is downright fun but, in typical Carpenter fashion, does more than you might expect. While Russell does his best John Wayne impersonation and ostensibly leads the film, he’s more a bumbling sidekick than the true hero (who may actually be Dun’s character). So grab your six-demon bag and let’s laugh, cheer, and all that king of thing!
