Carlos Varela Live in Havana

Friday, 6/11 to Thursday, 6/17

Experience this historic concert by Carlos Varela, one of the most enigmatic, rebellious and poetic artists of Cuban music. Carlos Varela and his songs are a part of the lives and history of millions of Cubans, inside and outside of Cuba, and has been recognized as a defiant and defining poet of his time. The allegorical and philosophical alchemy of his texts and the emotional honesty he expresses has identified him as “the voice of a generation”. To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of his career, Carlos invited a group of renowned musicians – artists and friends – to accompany him in two legendary concerts held at the National Theater of Cuba: Jackson Browne, Iván Lins, Luis Enrique, Eduardo Cabra (Calle 13 Visitor), Juan Formell (Los Van Van), X Alfonso, Alexander Abreu, and Diana Fuentes join Carlos Varela in interpretations of his most legendary songs, with the accompaniment of his band and the Chamber Orchestra of Havana.

Tickets to these screenings are $12.75 and under. Cinema members pay only $8.
