“One of the New Wave’s boldest achievements.” – David Parkinson, Empire Magazine

In this timeless French New Wave classic, pop singer Cleo (Corinne Marchand) awaits the results of a biopsy in real time. As she takes stock of her life under the watchful eye of director Agnès Varda, Paris comes alive around her. At one point Cleo rehearses a song, “Sans Toi” with Bob (composer Michel Legrand) at the piano. The camera glides around her before settling on her face as the music swells: “I’m an empty home without you.” A stunning moment in a stunning film, it stays with you forever. Like the memory of this pioneer woman filmmaker and the great composer - Varda and Legrand - to whom we pay tribute with this presentation.

CGAC Director of Programming Nat Chediak will introduce the screening in celebration of Varda, Legrand, and their classic collaboration.
