Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Saturday, 2/2
“The kind of movie where your date is always grabbing your forearm in a viselike grip, as unbearable excitement unfolds on the screen. After the movie is over, you've had a great time but your arm is black-and-blue for a week.” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
Before he rescued the Ark of the Covenant from the Nazis in Raiders of the Lost Ark, archaeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) travels to North India where poor villagers request his help recovering a stolen mystical gem and their missing children from an evil cult that lists human sacrifice as one of its core tenets. Notably darker in tone to the original film, Temple of Doom also captures the spirit of the adventure serials of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas’ youth.
