Musical Instruments Workshop
Wednesday, 12/30 at 2:00 & 3:00 pm
Join us at for a creative afternoon of art and music as your child will have fun exploring how to make easy home-made musical instruments with found objects, inspired by the documentary Landfill Harmonic. This film will be screening as part of the 2015 MICFF (details here). This special MICFF workshop is hosted by ArtCares for Kids, a Miami-based nonprofit organization comprised of volunteers who serve children in medical settings.
Serving local hospitals for over 5 years, these dedicated volunteers understand the uplifting benefits of the creative process to help children facing psychological, emotional and physical challenges. Liz Portuondo is a clinical art therapist who founded ArtCares for Kids in 2010. She is also certified in special education and art with 20 years experience working with children, ages 2 to 21.
These special workshops will be located at the John Martin's Restaurant, a block from the Gables Cinema. The first class takes place on Wednesday, December 30 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm. The second class follows the first workshop from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. These workshops are suitable for children ages 7-10. There is a $10 material and equipment fee.
