Kiki's Delivery Service
Saturday, 8/12 & Sunday, 8/13
"Funny, optimistic, and exciting, a mark of Miyazaki’s genius." –Tom Huddleston, Time Out
"It's a delightful tale of a young witch coming of age, learning to recognize her own talents, and striving to serve her community." –Kathi Maio, The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction
It is tradition for all young witches to leave their families on the night of a full moon and set out into the wide world to learn their craft. When that night comes for Kiki, she embarks on her life journey with her chatty black cat, Jiji, landing the next morning in a sea-side village, where a bakery owner hires her to make deliveries. The resourceful young witch uses her broom for the delivery service, only to lose her gift of flight in a moment of self-doubt. Rarely has Miyazaki’s art been so brilliantly rendered as in this delightfully imaginative film – a beautiful and timeless story of a young girl finding her way in the world.
