Non-Fiction
Final Week
“A new treasure from one of France’s most vital filmmakers.” – Jon Frosch, The Hollywood Reporter
Juliette Binoche and Guillaume Canet reunite with acclaimed director Olivier Assayas for this wry, sly, seductive tale of sex, lies and literature. Set amidst the bohemian intelligentsia of the Parisian publishing world, Non-Fiction traces the romantic and emotional fallout that results when a controversial writer begins blurring the lines between fact and fiction, using his real-life love affairs - including a passionate fling with an actress (Binoche) who happens to be married to his editor (Canet) - as fodder for his explosive new novel. Balancing dry wit with keen observations on the tensions between art, commerce, and technology, Non-Fiction is a buoyant, breezy delight from a master director at his most effortlessly brilliant.
As co-founder of the Miami Book Fair and owner of Books & Books, it’s safe to say no one has done more than Mitch Kaplan to promote literacy in South Florida. Mitch is also a book publisher and film producer, thus eminently qualified to open a window into the colliding worlds at play in Non-Fiction. On Opening Night, Friday May 24, we’re delighted to have him introduce the 6:30pm show.
Tickets to these screenings are $12.75 and under. Cinema members pay only $8.
