“A charming and heartfelt story about loss and clinging to life, one with realistic and likeable characters that may even teach you something about yourself.” – Rafael Motamayor, Slashfilm
Surf-loving college student Hinako moves to a seaside town where she meets handsome firefighter Minato after a fire breaks out in her apartment building. The two soon fall in love but tragedy strikes as Minato loses his life at sea. Distraught and overcome with grief, Hinako can barely look at the ocean – until she spots her beloved in the water and learns she can summon him in any water surface as soon as she sings their song. But can the two really remain together forever? A love story as only anime auteur Masaaki Yuasa (The Night is Short, Walk on Girl, DEVILMAN crybaby) can tell, Ride Your Wave is a deeply emotional film of romance, grief, and self-discovery packed with the director’s trademark visual ingenuity.
