“The complacency and corruption of pre-coup Argentina is laid bare in chilling style in Benjamín Naishtat’s superbly sinister and stylish Rojo.” – Jessica Kiang, Variety

“An exciting new voice in Argentinian cinema.” – Boyd van Hoeij, The Hollywood Reporter

The 1970s and early ‘80s in Argentina were the time of the military dictatorship, the “Dirty War,” the disappeared. Benjamín Naishtat’s hypnotic drama follows a successful lawyer (Dario Grandinetti) whose picture-perfect life begins to unravel when a private detective comes to his seemingly quiet small town and starts asking questions. A spellbinding, slow-burn mood of foreboding and impending doom builds through a carefully constructed narrative. If Rojo bears elements of a thriller, it is only to service a devastating dissection of the times. The film was rewarded with the Best Director, Best Actor and Best Cinematography prizes at the San Sebastian Film Festival and had its Florida premiere at Miami Film Festival 2019.

Tickets to these screenings are $12.75 and under. Cinema members pay only $8.
