Roma - 70mm
Friday, 2/8 to Thursday, 2/14
“There’s no other way to say it: Roma is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, and one of the most moving. If Norma Desmond had been able to see it, she wouldn’t have worried about pictures getting small.” – Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal
So you think you’ve seen Roma, the most celebrated film of the year? Think again. CGAC is proud to present the exclusive Miami Premiere of Alfonso Cuarón's evocative masterpiece in 70mm, the format in which it was filmed. The epic portrait of the director’s middle-class family life in the turbulent Mexico City of the 70s - seen from the vantage point of live-in nanny and housekeeper Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio) - is spot-on in every regard, capturing the sights and sounds of a near-distant past that is very much relevant to our time. Cuarón's passion project has been rewarded with accolades rarely bestowed on a foreign language film. Indeed, as of this writing, it’s the odds-on favorite to win the Oscar for Best Picture of the Year. Written, produced, edited and filmed in gleaming black & white by the director himself, you’ll want to be among the South Florida film lovers who see Roma during its limited one-week 70mm engagement. A word to the wise: get your tickets early.
Tickets to these screenings are $12.75 and under. Cinema members pay only $8.
