"During [the film], I was pretty sure I was watching a classic, one that will be around for a long time, and make many generations of fans." – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
Year One. Harry Potter lives a dreary life with his miserable aunt and uncle but on his 11th birthday, a giant named Hagrid reveals the young orphan is a wizard and enrolls him in the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft & Wizardry. But as he navigates this magical world, Harry discovers the truth behind his parents’ mysterious deaths and that the Dark Lord responsible may have returned. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone launched the careers of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, and featured a score of noted British actors, including Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, and Richard Harris. More importantly, it transported J. K. Rowling’s seminal fantasy novels to the silver screen and captured the hearts of audiences all over the world.
