The Florida Film Institute, in partnership with Coral Gables Art Cinema, is producing the 11th annual Summer Film Camp! This is a six week intense filmmaking program that takes place from June 21, 2021 – July 30, 2021. Students will be given the option to attend in-person or online via ZOOM. The camp will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm. FFI will give up to 25 high school students ages 13 to 18 the opportunity to focus on essential and practical aspects of commercial motion picture production, including script preparation, cinematography, lighting, sound recording, directing, editing, acting and music. The program will feature instruction by South Florida Film Industry professionals. The camp will be held at the Coral Gables Art Cinema. Participants will showcase their short film project at the theatre in the Fall (DATE/TIME: TBD)
FFI transitioned to a virtual program in March 2020 when the quarantine began - and amazingly, the mobile creators platform was a huge success as well as this past summer film camp project. Currently, the film created last summer, REALITY CHECK, is doing great on the film fest circuit.
FFI and Gables Cinema have created a safe environment for staff & students to attend in-person. All CDC guidelines and protocols will be in place. All FFI staff have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Face masks and temperature for all staff/students will be required before entry into the theater. In the event that a student (or family member) tests positive for the virus we will adhere to the CDC guidelines. Therefore, all in-person students must be ready to go online if we need to quarantine (technical requirements listed on FFI website).
The total fee for the 2021 summer film camp is $725 plus $50.00 registration fee – total of $775.00. The deadline to register is June 1st, 2021.
FFI is able to offer this discounted fee to each participant because of the generosity of our sponsors. Interested students must fill out the required registration form. A phone interview will be set up with the student/parent.

This year FFI will offer a limited number of full scholarships to students in need of financial assistance. In order to apply for the scholarship you must contact FFI before June 1, 2021. To apply for the scholarship, please send the following information:
- Copy of the student's current report card
- Letter from the parent outlining the financial need OR Proof of school / participant in a Lunch Assistant Program
Please send your documentation via email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Once FFI has reviewed the documents a phone interview will be set up with the student. All applicants will be notified if they have been granted a scholarship for the program. Scholarships are available for Miami-Dade County residents only.
PLEASE NOTE: Upon acceptance into the film camp program, each student (scholarship and non-scholarship participants) will be required to pay a non-refundable $50.00 registration fee.
