The Iron Giant: Signature Edition

Saturday, 4/9 & Sunday, 4/10 at 11:00 am

"Brad Bird fills the CinemaScope screen with wit and beauty in this modern fairy tale." – Michael Sragow, New Yorker

This remastered and extended cut of Brad Bird's touching animated tale features scenes previously storyboarded by Bird during the production of the original film but never finished due to time and budget constraints! Set in 1950’s Maine, when the Cold War was at its peak, a gigantic weapon from another planet sent to destroy Earth falls to the ground and loses its memory in the process. The 9-year-old Hogarth Hughes rescues the giant (voiced by Vin Diesel) and since they both need a friend, they choose each other. Hogarth teaches the giant about Superman, and the giant teaches Hogarth just about everything else that matters. A highly paranoid U.S. government agent learns of the giant’s existence and is bent on its destruction. With a steady hand and beautifully animated direction from Dir. Brad Bird, the engaging, lively and heartwarming The Iron Giant currently holds an amazing 96% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This film is appropriate for ages 6 and up.
