The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Friday, 6/16 to Thursday, 6/22
"The director magically conjures emotional dividends in the film's invigorating last moments, which wordlessly celebrate an underrated and truly Andersonian virtue: solidarity." — Time Out
"The resulting film is as much an exploration of fading youth and mortality as it is a dazzling dive into the wonders of the ocean." —Jayne Nelson, Radio Times
Internationally-renowned oceanographer Steve Zissou (Bill Murray) embarks on an epic quest to hunt down the “jaguar shark” that killed his best friend and collaborator Esteban while reconnecting with a man who claims to be his long-lost son. Wes Anderson’s fourth film, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, is an eccentric homage to French oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Adding a variety of irresistible new elements to his repertoire, like Brazilian musician and co-star Seu Jorge's infectious Portuguese-language David Bowie covers or the charming 16mm stop-motion footage of fantastical undersea creatures, Anderson further refined his trademark mix of visual invention, oddball charm and genuine heartbreak. Team Zissou itself is rounded out by an all-star cast featuring Owen Wilson, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchett, Willem Dafoe, Anjelica Huston, Michael Gambon, and Bud Cort.
