The Official Story (La historia oficial)

Monday, 7/17 to Thursday, 7/20 at 8:45 pm

"From the legacy of anguish left by Argentina's military juntas, Luis Puenzo has created a glowing film. Cogently written and beautifully acted, The Official Story takes us to the place where politics meet the human heart." – Walter Goodman, New York Times

Set in Buenos Aires during the final years of Argentina's military dictatorship, director Luis Puenzo's stunning debut tells the story of Alicia (Norma Aleandro), the wife of a wealthy businessman (Hector Alterio) who discovers that her adopted child may be the progeny of desaparecidos - forcing her to reveal the truth about her country's legacy of corruption and murder. Restored and remastered to its original splendor, The Official Story is one of Argentina's most celebrated films of all-time: The legendary Ms. Aleandro won the Best Actress Award at Cannes, and the film became its country's first to win the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
