"Both a delicate exploration of what it means to connect in a world we no longer recognize and an unflinchingly honest look at the ways we shape our reality."–Sundance
"The movie doesn’t need to pull any tricks to scare us; its horror lies in its simplicity." –Jourdain Searles, Hyperallergic
Written in 2017 and filmed in Brazil in 2019, this eerily prescient science-fiction drama predicted a pandemic world before quarantine was part of our everyday vocabulary. A toxic and mysterious pink cloud appears across the globe, forcing everyone to stay home. No one knows the cloud’s origins or when it will disperse. Giovana (Renata de Lélis) finds herself stuck at home with Yago (Eduardo Mendonça), a man she just met, while her loved ones are scattered across the country. As time passes, the two make the effort to act as a couple, for better or worse. While Yago is living in his own utopia, Giovana feels her life has changed in ways she never expected, and she resists and resents her situation. The Pink Cloud debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2021, wowing audiences with its vision of lockdown life before there was a global pandemic.
Tickets to these screenings are $12.75 and under. Cinema members pay only $8.
