Mr. Wilson (Edward G. Robinson) is on the hunt for Nazi fugitive Franz Kindler (Orson Welles), a war criminal who's erased all traces of his identity except one - a mania for clocks. The Stranger was a box office hit when released and is, in fact, the only one of Welles' career; over the years, it has also secured its place in the film noir canon.
