“McDormand is righteous fury personified and her performance – the best she’s delivered since Fargo, maybe – is heart-breaking, but also wildly, profanely entertaining.” – A.A. Dowd, AV Club
One of 2017’s most American-centric films is the one penned and directed by an Irish playwright. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is a fiery, expletive-laden whirlwind of sociopolitical issues plaguing the American conscience touched by a wicked sense of comedy and wit (in true Martin McDonagh fashion) and is led by a Frances McDormand at the top of her game. After months have passed without a culprit in her daughter’s murder case, Mildred Hayes makes a bold move, painting three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at William Willoughby (Woody Harrelson), the town’s revered chief of police. When his second-in-command Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell), an immature mother’s boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbing’s law enforcement is only exacerbated. Three Billboards has been a juggernaut on the awards circuit, nabbing five BAFTAs, four Golden Globes, and two Oscar wins for Best Actress (McDormand) and Best Supporting Actor (Rockwell).
Tickets to these screenings are $12.75 and under. Cinema members pay only $8.
